FAQs

What type of sessions do you run in your small group service?

Our small group sessions combine strength and conditioning work with carefully selected exercises to encourage full range of motion in all planes. This helps improve posture, mobility, and overall functional fitness. You’ll have access to an unrivalled range of equipment, ensuring no two sessions are the same. Variety, energy, and fun are central to every session.

During sessions, a Level 3 or 4 personal trainer will guide you through the plan, demonstrate exercises, and move around the studio to correct form, provide motivation, and offer encouragement. If an exercise feels too easy or too challenging, the trainer will give progressions or regressions so the session matches your ability.

Our small group sessions are an alternative to CrossFit and Hyrox. Like those programs, we focus on small groups, expert coaching, and improving both strength and conditioning. However, we’re not affiliated with either, giving us the flexibility to draw from a wider range of training styles. Sessions are also joint-friendly and non-repetitive, helping to reduce the risk of strain or injury.

Meldreth sessions are more private and bespoke. They take place in a boutique studio exclusively for the participants, with a maximum of six people per group. This smaller group size allows for more one-on-one coaching time with the trainer.

At Meldreth, participants choose their sessions and stick to the same ones each week, unlike at Sawston or Royston where members can pick and mix from the full timetable. This consistency allows the trainer to tailor sessions specifically to the same group of participants and for everyone to progress together.

Not at all. Exercises are offered with easier or harder options so you can adjust intensity based on your ability and how you feel on the day. If you need a break, you can rest and resume when ready. Our instructors encourage you to challenge yourself safely, within your own limits.
In most cases, yes. Minor injuries can often be accommodated with modified exercises. If we feel your situation requires specialist expertise beyond our scope, we’ll advise you that Meldreth small group sessions may not be suitable and recommend a more personalised service, such as semi-private or one-to-one PT.
Yes. This consistency allows the trainer to design a bespoke session plan tailored to the same six participants each week, enabling more personalised coaching and progression.
